hello...new to this site.... ...so here goes.....the difficutl bit....ive been riding for a few years now, mainly mtb's starting with a hardtail and moving on to an all round suspension...so a lot of my riding has been off road...though quite a bit on road....
now i want to move to a cycle dedicated to on road work...with a view to cycling 'lejog', probably in summer 2010....
but im trying to find the right bike ...and its a nightmare ....so if anyone has ideas or websites for me to look at that would be great....
ive got £600....i want a decent bike to ride to work and, eventually, do the lejog trip...so its gotta be sturdy to cope with that long trip...i want it to have decent gears....so not mtb gearing...more road gearing....i want it to have the ability to take paniers and mudguards....i want it to be upright enough to provide a nice comfortable position to ride....
so...what ive looked at so far...i have a marin mtb now and its great, so i do get kinda self-sent back to look at marins....though im up for a change...if only i could find the right bike...the marin website seems to suggest their 'sports commuter' - fairfax (http://www.marin.co.uk/2008/bikedetail2.php?ModNo=3854) or the 'urban range' - muirwoods 29er (http://www.marin.co.uk/2008/bikedetail.php?ModNo=3815) big wheels to get round quickly....or possibly the novato (http://www.marin.co.uk/2008/bikedetail.php?ModNo=3816)...though the last two seem to have smaller gearing...
has anyone got any ideas?... ...its all so confusing...
thanks in advance.....
graham
