I'm sat here with the sun shining at last, suffering with a good dose of flue. I have not spent the long hours in idle contemplation though. I have spent the time trawling through a lot of websites. Now I think I have detected a consensus of opinion formed about Sustrans. That It's behavior is now like that of a dominant multinational corporation. That has moved into the market place with money and just taken over. It is now estimated that 90% of funding for cycling projects is controlled by them a charity. They blatantly promote, expensive off-road circular winding routes, so that families can take the cat & dog along as well. Some may applaud turning all the working countryside into a park. But, this approach leaves no money for urgent urban cycling black-spots. When people: maybe at university, want to bike home, this I applaud. They need a direct safe A to B route: today this is almost impossible! They often ask for route's advice, sometimes on this site, so, I try to give it. Then, I have to go, are-but: are-but: please don’t go on that road! So; I have come to the deduction that Sustrans has failed us completely, & all funding should be stopped! Lets get rid of the bike huggers & phone pole tapers!
