Hi all I am wanting to convert the drop bars on my super galexy to straight bars for a more upright riding position. The question is, is this possible and would I need to change the stem as well? All help greatfully recieved. Gary

Hi Gary. Just done this to my Raleigh Royal (similar sort of touring cycle) I put a slightly higher and shorter stem on: when sitting upright you need a shorter reach and the saddle further forward as well. The straight bars will need bars ends for comfort, and probably are too wide. I fitted Brompton straights (500mm) and grip shift levers as these were all I could get for the 21 gear system - you will need to bring the down-tube levers higher. Do it a bit at a time until satisfied.
