Cycling along without a care in the world. Actually going through Birmingham on the A34 on my way to Stratford on Avon for a weeks tour round the Cotswolds. Having ridden about 45 miles you know how it gets the brain turns off for a bit . Well I am just approaching a set of traffic lights and I spot a convenient lamp post to stop at as the lights turn red this will save me taking my foot out of the toe clip. Great idea but yes I completely miss judged the post put my arm out to lean on it and bang down I go straight onto the crowded pavement. I Have not done this since I just look back and giggle to my self but my kettle still has the dent. ;D

Excellent comic moment Gary...Rather you than me ! Was once doing the climb out of Brough over to Teesdale...1 in 4...into a headwind...and pouring down. Struggling badly...and effing and blinding loudly...even to the poor sheep in the field to my left. When a Lass on a racer pulled up beside me...laughed.. said "do you often swear at sheep"...Then flew up the climb into the distance. Very embarrassing.

Big Grins on both stories. Notice it always happens with witnesses?

I remember getting a new racer when I was about 14, I was doing my paper round one day riding past a couple of girls no handed grining when the bike disapears from beneath me on some ice, I go sliding down the road on the paper bag slowly spinning in circles. Only thing hurt was my pride having to walk back to get the bike to great laughter from said girls.
Rich.

Hi Moriarty What a wimp. 1 in 4 ? No way. 1 in 8 at most. Easily ridden, at Easter last year, by 80 year old Hilda, vice president of the Rough Stuff Fellowship. Before she completed the High Cup Nick crossing. No wonder you were passed by the lass. Assume that she thought you were parked up. Pedro
