Anyone know anything about/have experience of cycling across the Netherlands, Germany, France and Swizerland (more specifically the river Rhine) as cheaply as poss? we will have tents and a stove...... is wild camping a possibility nowadays? What is "camping on the farm"? How widespread is camping on the farm? How much does it tend to cost? Do you have to book places in advance or do you tend to come across them so frequently you can just pedal down the river and your bound to find somwhere before nightfall? Know anything else which could be useful when cycling the river Rhine on a small budget? Google searching to find answers to these kinds of questions has not got me very far so any relvant advice/weblinks much appreciated! - Eddie Jones

Sorry about my previous pathetic attempt to send a link but i`m not all that clued up on computers yet. Google in "camping bij de boer" and then translate the page, this will explain a bit about camping on the farm(in Holland at least). Me and my missus cycled from the hook of holland (europort) following the rhine till we got to bingen on der rhine where my wife had a non-cycling accident - and broke her collarbone! We were heading to Basel. I cannot recommend the route highly enough as it was fantastic!.The campsites in Germany (kampingplatz) are of a very high standard...well the ones we used were anyway and we never had any bother just turning up(sometimes we were quite late as well)As we had to dump my wife`s TREK in bingen if you need an extra bike while you are there, get in touch and i`ll tell you where to get it . Just talking about this makes me want to go back there again this year.
