I am posting this all over the bloody place as I am so upset with it all that I need to offload.... I only cycled 78 miles in September 2006 and that is including even the trip to the supermarkt etc! It is now the 4th October and promise I will knock up over 200 this month or pay a £10-00 penalty to Animal Rescue in Lancaster so HOLD ME TO IT!!!!

Steve . Take a chill pill .The general idea is to do as many miles as you want not get all stressed about the miles you dont do. Take it easy remember its quality miles not quantity. But if you dont start behaving yourself I will make you end to end with me and I am not pushing you up the hills Best wishies Gary

Just checked on Cyclogs and I have managed to do 129 so far this month. Still not feeling at all motivated and struggling physically to ride at all but I am doing it.

Why not get a job or a friend about 6 miles away and go there every day! Or maybe just make yourself do a circuit every day; I use our Potterers CC meets to get out each week, as, whatever the weather, some other idiot will be out, too! 20 miles each way = 40 per trip = 160 per month not counting shopping; twice a week and its double that!

I am working on the circuit thing. i have a 12 miler that is local to me and easy going so I can do that most days. Main probllems this year have been health and I can't do anything about that. i was on 5-600 miles a month regularly a year or so ago and i ache to get back to that!

Don't panic! Everytime I get ahead of you on cyclogs, you overtake me again, so you're not exactly lagging. Just keep chipping away at it, hopefully it will get better. If you massively over push yourself, you are just going to end up not able to do anything whilst you recover.

Just passed the 200 miler for the month so far. Feel a lot better about that but it is hard going! Thanks for the support people.

We all need motivation when it's damp and windy! I'm working full time + again, so I'm not getting out at all in the week and the weekends are so cold. I haven't re-acclimatised yet, I don't think.

I must say our Potterers Club Meets (at pubs, with fires in some!) are a real incentive to go out: no matter how awful the weather, some other idiot will be out, too! We have been out in icy conditions or snow, comparing spills (some are more prone to this than others, but age creeps in and brings timidity.

Motivation? Motivation? Come off it PD how can anyone want motivating to get out doors and cycling? Having spent 35 years in offices, studios, hotel rooms, and on airplanes, just dreaming of the day when I could be outside and free, was and is all the motivation I ever needed. Yesterday I had to stay in during the morning as a TV was being delivered. It was like having a prison sentence. Just get out and enjoy every minute irrespective of weather or how you feel. Anyway; are you going on the Tramp forum weekend camp? z11.invisionfree.com/Tramp/index.php?showtopic=247

As long as it doesn't coincide with anything else and as long as finances are okay I will be there! (Wherever it may end up being!)
