If you put the place names (Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog or Llandrillo) into www.multimap.co.uk, THIS comes up. It shows the area just under the A5 You will need to get an os map to see the track though, Have you tried the library? they have maps that you can photocopy. Rich.

Thanks Rich I do have an OS map of the area the problem I have is trying to remember a road I cycled on in 1976 with my Farther I am going to retrace this year bit of a 30 year anniversary thing I know we went passed the wayfarer monument as we left a message in the tin. I know roughly where it is but wondered if any one had specific information. Your last post is most useful many thanks for trying maybee just a thought the welsh tourist info office may know.
Thanks Gary

Instead of following the GPS - the route is winding - just start at Llanarmon DC (in the Ceriog valley) and follow the track to the west. It continues to Cynwydd and the memorial is above the track, to the north, at the highest point of the pass. I found it by copying a few sections of getamap at 1:25000.

That road goes past where I lived for a time at Glas-Aber. God forsaken place in Winter, stunningly beautiful at other times.

Go to Ordnance Survey www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/and type in SJ091364 in the box marked Place name or postcode to pinpoint memorial. You can zoom up to 1:25000 scale which shows most detail or zoom out to show the locality.

I tried my PDA and could display the locus on the 1:100,000 Navigator map but could not display its Grid Ref All I got was SJ something which is where I live? i.e. in Stafford? But my home gR is more like SJ 91121 21501 alt 105m
The actual GR read out for cadair berwyn Hill top was SJ 07150 32820 alt 812m which is more probabable but not necessarily the locus of your memorial I have not got the 1:25,000 which is what one would need. Have you tried the OS website they coulds surely have a search link?
