I can't cook. No ideas of how to boil this and fry that etc so I am looking for some basic help and ideas here. One fo the things that always gets me in a lather when going out camping is the cooking equipment thing. I can't afford to eat out so I have to do everything on a tight budget. What stoves, pans etc do people take for, say, 10 days camping? I can't eat fish or drink Tea but I do take a kettle for a lot of coffee. Any really simple ideas of equipment and recipes would be really appreciated.

I tend to follow the KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid)approach when traveling for long periods. Pasta rice couscous every one can cook these, They are all full of carbohydrates (energy food) They lend themselves well to salads or simple meat dishes. I am however lucky as a chef I can turn the most mundane food into a palatable dish however when camping I have been known to open the odd tin or two. Try this boil some rice throw in a chopped onion a diced carrot and a small tin of peas and a small tin of tuna in brine (drained) this makes a great filling meal and you wont need a pudding. I could follow this theme for a while but there are lots of things to cover here. Lunch times I always strap a loaf to the panniers and have a small tub of spread I stop at a local shop and buy a filling could be any thing from banana to a boiled egg left from breakfast etc. I personally use my reliable primus 96 stove but if you want instant no messing there are some very light small LPG stoves on the market with these you only need the stove and gas. I have a small pan set and a camping cutlery set and a swiss army knife with can opener. I find this to be all I need and a few small plastic bags to keep the odd half onion in etc. If your cooking is so bad use convenience foods in tins or frozen etc buy them as near to your camp as possible it doesn't matter if things start to defrost a little. Well I have run on a bit here hope there is some use in the above for you remember you must eat well it is your fuel for the day start with a good breakfast eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg and tack a pack of dried bananas with you they are great for emergencies bonk etc all the best and by the way there are a couple of recipes on the website

It is possible to buy food from the delicatessen which will not need any cooking; keep the burner for hot drinks - ... if you can make a cup of tea!

I AM ALLERGIC TO FISH AND TO TEA BOTH!
I just tried to soak some cous cous and it worked okay but it tastes of TOTAL NOTHING! Other than tinned tune or other fish, what can a "Can't cook Bozo" do with the stuff?

I did a really difficult dish today at home! I HEATED UP a tin of Mushroom Soup and ate the Couscous through it. Made the mushroom soup even more boring.
