After yesterday's morning sunshine we now have a grey day here in Kent: a lot of wind-blown wet just now but real heavy stuff promised for later! Gales building up, so it's a bit difficult out on the bike, especially where there are high buildings (yes, we do have them here in Herne Bay - those tower blocks built by the GLC to house their council tenants back in the 1970s!). Tomorrow is our Potterers meet at a good pub, and on Thursday we have our Potterers Christmas raffle - usually about 40 turning up for that. We Potterers are not all heavy drinkers, but that is where the club name derives - from the founder members drinking beer in pots (or jugs) by the gallon!!!! You don't lose your licence riding under the influence - just your balance!

I think I've heard about your rides. ;D It's pretty damp and windy here in Sussex today.

East Kent has much the same weather as Sussex although it usually is drier! Your hills can be much more vicious than ours, though. Most of my rides get written up in Cycling World, or have been for the last 10 years or so. However, there are also some in Potterering Around or Trek 'n' Tent, both club magazines. I hope you are not the Fell Club member who nearly lost a thumb at the York Rally (oops, sorry, Cycle Show) this year? It was rather a nasty mess. I seem to remember reading your post about going to that event.

Hi Butterfly! Its sounds as though you have fully recovered. I know you don't get much chance to go off on tours, but if you can be away for a weekend in April, watch out for the Fell Club AGM dates - which should be at Meriden and is good camping. We certainly enjoyed the previous one enormously; the catering was especially superb - owing to a lack of pots and pans in the hall, cooking was done in tea and coffee pots!!!!!!! A very sociable occasion.

Enjoy the weather - that grey, foogy, November weather - this Christmas! Don't be PC, enjoy Christmas and also ride your bike, despite H&S fears. Especially enjoy the quiet roads when all sensible motorists (are there any?) are keeping snug and warm at home, leaving cyclists a clear run!
Happy Christmas all.

Great weather for cycling. No wind and the sun came out. Should be able to increase daily milage after tomorrow as the daylight hours get longer
